and follows the tank track across the field.
The tank track was once part of the WW2 Stainton Camp and the barracks were next to it. It runs between a Roman road to the north (A688) and the dismantled Darlington and Barnard Castle Railway line to the south. The nearest railway station was at Broomielaw (about 1km) and up until 1942 it was a private station for Streatlam Castle. On the 9th of June 1942 it was opened up to public use.
