A 1 day exhibition was held at the community centre to inform the public about the proposed development.
We expressed our concerns about our footpath and left written comments. In August a spokesman for Durham County Council described
the day as a consultation. (169)

District Council recommended that the application submitted by Durham County Council
refused as it was contrary to land use policies: ENV1, ENV3 and ECON2. (76, 98, 169, 176, 192)
The Report of the Social & Environmental Scrutiny Committee dated November 2002 included the following:
'.. no public consultation took place until June 2002 - nearly two years after the initial operational site selection of Stainton
Grove ..' (187)

A letter of objection to the development was sent to county hall. It included the following:
'The proposed site will cover a footpath that has been in use without hindrance for many years.
… no notices have been posted to restrict its use'. (130)
